I really like this image Lauren. I'm really intrigued by the original (where did you find this?!) and I like the reinterpretation you have created. Your photograph carries some of the qualities of the original but carries a sense of new narrative. Whilst the first image shows a young child at work, the new one shows a young person exploring what looks like a derelict dwelling. I find this contrast and play on history, really interesting as it emphasises a passing of time.

The original photograph is called Cotton Mill Girl by Lewis Hine in 1908. He wanted to use images of child labour to demand change in the USA.

Really interesting Lauren. Can you tell us any more about your (re)interpretation? I really like this work

This is a really well considered reinterpretation Lauren. I love how you have replicated the space and adopted similar visual and compositional elements while reframing the original content. Do you know the work of Tom Hunter? He references famous paintings in his photographs but repositions the meaning to consider social issues.
