Really effective use of light and composition with this image. The placing of the subjects is really well executed with them at different stages of the walk and the continuation of the path into the distance creates a natural flow, leading the viewer through the image.

About this project

In 2020 Photoworks and the University of Brighton worked together to offer a new Photography Club as part of the Saturday Club programme. This was an artist led initiative that set out to support participants in developing new technical and creative skills, creating a portfolio and gaining a Bronze Arts Award. Guided by photographic artist Lindsey Smith and undergraduates, participants explored a range of photographic concepts and processes through a series of online, bite-size projects. Projects were inspired by the Jerwood Photoworks Awards 2020 Exhibition and introduced through briefs that include inspirational quotes, thought provoking prompts, example images, artist research and virtual visits to relevant exhibitions and projects. Participants are then supported in sharing and critiquing their work through the showcases and peer reviews on this blog.
